Janel M. Glynn

An experienced bankruptcy and commercial litigator, Janel counsels clients in a practical, cost-effective way, to find unique and innovative solutions to their complex business challenges. Janel has substantial experience representing Chapter 11 debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, lessors, buyers, and committees in all aspects of bankruptcy matters. Whether she is working with a commercial lender or Chapter 11 debtor in bankruptcy, or managing an out-of-court restructuring, Janel relies on her ability to keenly understand her clients’ businesses, developing solutions that achieve strategic financial and business objectives.

In addition to her bankruptcy practice, Janel also concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation and loan enforcement, representing financial institutions and other creditors in the enforcement and workout of commercial and real estate loans and foreclosures.  

Active in the bankruptcy community, Janel is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and speaks regularly on the topic of commercial bankruptcy. Janel is also a past board member of the Maricopa County Bar Association Bankruptcy Section Board and past member of the Arizona American Bankruptcy Inn of Court.

Janel has been recognized as a top Business Bankruptcy Attorney by Southwest Super Lawyers® (2012-2020) and The Best Lawyers in America© (2021) for her work in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law.

Prior to joining the Burgess Law Group, Janel practiced for over a decade in the Phoenix offices of prominent national and international law firms.  Janel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Loyola University New Orleans (2004) and Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law (2007).  During law school, Janel served as Judicial Extern for the Honorable Jerry A. Brown, Chief Judge, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. After law school, Janel went on to earn her LL.M. in Bankruptcy from St. John’s University College of Law in New York.  She is admitted to practice in Arizona state and federal courts as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
