Juliet Speisman Burgess
Juliet S. Burgess is a nationally recognized attorney and the Founding Partner of the award-winning Burgess Law Group. With more than two decades of experience, Juliet brings a practical, strategic, and business-minded approach to complex legal matters, helping clients navigate challenges, protect their interests, and make informed decisions with confidence.
Juliet’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, intellectual property, and labor and employment law; with extensive experience handling complex matters from inception through trial. She represents Arizona businesses across a broad range of industries, from emerging companies and closely held businesses to established organizations, providing both day-to-day counsel and high-level strategic guidance when significant legal issues arise.
As trusted outside counsel, Juliet advises employers on a comprehensive range of workplace matters, including employment discrimination and retaliation, sexual harassment, hiring and termination practices, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), leaves of absence and paid time off, restrictive covenants and non-solicitation agreements, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), wage and hour compliance, workplace safety, drug testing, technology and social media, AI, dress codes, remote work, and workplace violence. She also conducts sensitive workplace investigations and develops and delivers customized management and employee training programs designed to reduce risk and promote effective workplace practices.

She is a sought-after speaker and author whose commentary and thought leadership have been featured in Arizona Employment Law Letter, HR Laws, HR Daily Advisor, Legal Zoom, The Daily Independent at YourValley.net, and Arizona Attorney magazine.
In addition to representing businesses, Juliet represents individuals in employment matters, including executive employment agreements, severance negotiations, compensation arrangements, and non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements. Her experience on both sides of employment disputes gives her a valuable perspective when negotiating agreements and resolving high-stakes workplace matters.
Before founding Burgess Law Group, Juliet practiced in the Phoenix offices of internationally recognized law firms Greenberg Traurig, LLP and Littler Mendelson, P.C. During her tenure, she managed complex multidistrict litigation and class actions and served as outside litigation and employment counsel to clients nationwide. Juliet earned her B.A. in Psychology, cum laude, from the University of Arizona and her J.D., cum laude, from American University’s Washington College of Law.

In 2019, she co-founded “The Aggregate” to support, connect and inspire women in the law and in 2023, she became a Founding 48 Member of “Copper Club.” She currently serves on the Phoenix Heart Ball Committee for the American Heart Association, the Arizona Costume Institute at the Phoenix Art Museum, the Desert Foundation Auxiliary Board, and the Ladies of the Court Women’s Board for the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute.
